SUMMARY:
The instructional aide provides support to teachers, instructors, and faculty members in educational settings. The employee assists with a variety of functions, including implementing instructional programs, assessing student performance, readying students for transitions, preparing materials, setting up learning spaces, and other tasks as needed by instructor and/or school.
ESSENTIAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Aide
Supports and maintains classroom policies
Tutors individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher
Assists in the administering and scoring of a variety of tests according to student performance and behavior
Performs routine clerical duties
Operates classroom and office equipment including computers, copy machines, and other equipment
Provides support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audio-visual equipment, operating educational training equipment and distributing and collecting paper and supplies
Assists students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance
Directs group activities of students assigned
Assists in monitoring students and addressing behaviors as needed
Confers, as needed, with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs
Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned from time to time

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or general educational degree (GED).
Ability to assist students with disabilities
Strong desire and skills in working directly with children
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification as special education aide from the State of Wisconsin
Prior educational or childcare experience
